Flotsam and Jetsam #60

  • Hey, Flotsam and Jetsam is back!  It’s been a while.  Sorry.
  • The folks at Helpinator are running a Absolutely Insane FireMonkey Demo contest.  I say you should give it a try.
  • Jason Southwell has an interesting project going over at KickStarterNakeyMonkey.  Cool idea.  I’ve heard about Kickstarter, but never really seen it in action. I love the idea – great way to spread the word about good ideas.  Not all good ideas need $15 million in venture capital.   Perhaps you want to get in on the ground floor of the project?
  • Okay, only like two real items, but we will take what we can get for the first Flotsam and Jetsam in quite a while, eh?

I've funded several projects on kickstarter, never had a bad experience. (I've funded movies, books, artists who want to paint in Norway. Some of the projects can take months or years to complete. It's kinda fun to get a dvd or book in the mail from a project that you've completely forgotten about.)

I think government should be run like kickstarter, the legislative body decides what programs should go up for funding, then I get to goto a website and apply my tax dollars to the programs that I want funded. If some program doesn't get any dollars it get shut down.

With a name like yours Norwegian is not the first nationality that springs to mind. But I do appreciate being able to work my way through the flags of the world when I post here.

ObOnTopic: NakeyMonkey does look quite cool. But it is reinforcing my view that while FM is cool and all the popular Delphi kids are playing with it, there's not a lot of commercial use of it yet. But the good news is that my accountant says the kickstarter should count as a tax-deductible work expense.

A Pithy Quote for You

"We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive."    –  C. S. Lewis
